“Mga kababayan, ang susunod na presidente ng Pilipinas, Bro Eddie Villanueva!”

Lifting Villanueva’s hand in victory, those were the words of Puerto Princesa City Mayor Edward Hagedorn in what could be considered as his categorical endorsement of the televangelist last Saturday, March 6, during the latter’s visit to the country’s cleanest and greenest city.

“Nasubukan na natin lahat. Bakit di naman natin subukan ang taong may takot sa Diyos? Siguradong di sya gagawa ng masama dahil di nya pwedeng suwayin ang itinuturo niya,” the city mayor also said of the Bangon Pilipinas Party standardbearer.

Meanwhile, Villanueva who runs on a platform of “Anim na taon na walang korapsyon” wowed the crowd of more than 5,000 people when he spoke before them at the Palawan Coliseum.

Quoting Section 18 of the Local Government Code, Villanueva said that under a righteous leadership, Palawan should have received its rightful share of P5B a year from the Malampaya revenues.

“Kung matino ang gobyerno, dapat sana’y naibigay sa Palawan ang P5B pondo kada taon. Mai-integrate ang sea transport, land transport, air transport. Dapat sana’y number one tourist destination na ang Palawan sa buong mundo,” he underscored.

Among other things, said provision in the Local Government Code states that the Local Government Unit shall have the power and authority … “to have a just share in national taxes which shall be automatically and directly released to them without need of any further action; to have an equitable share in the proceeds from the utilization and development of the national wealth and resources within their respective territorial jurisdictions including sharing the same with the inhabitants by way of direct benefits…”

Bangon Pilipinas Statement on the latest Pulse Asia Survey result

Bangon Pilipinas believes that the latest rating that pegged Bro Eddie Villanueva at 2 percent is quite improbable.

Before the official start of the campaign, Bro Eddie Villanueva was already at 2 percent.  After visiting key cities and provinces, even Hong Kong where Bangon Pilipinas gathered the biggest crowd for a political rally at Chater Road in February, the Party just cannot simply believe that ratings would still remain at 2 percent.

More over, at least six social networking sites, including Facebook, points to Bro Eddie Villanueva as the number 1 or number 2 contender in the May 10 presidential elections.

Bangon Pilipinas' stand on surveys therefore remains the same:  While surveys can be helpful references in determining the public pulse, surveys also can be internally influenced.  Hence paid and commissioned surveys during the election season do not necessarily help in giving our public informed and wise decisions.

Candidates gravitate toward Bro Eddie, party gains momentum

Two senatorial candidates from two different political parties gravitated toward Bro. Eddie Villanueva, fueling further the momentum of Bangon Pilipinas Party with only 67 days remaining before the May elections.

“This is an exciting time for us. We believe that the addition of two very credible candidates to our senatorial slate speaks well of Bangon Pilipinas Party’s principle and platform,” said Atty. Ted Pascua, Bangon Pilipinas Secretary General.

Pascua announced on Wednesday the inclusion of Imelda Papin of Kilusang Bagong Lipunan (KBL) and Atty Zosimo Jesus Paredes of Ang Kapatiran political parties in the Bangon Pilipinas slate.

He made clear, however, that while Bangon Pilipinas is happy to welcome Papin and Paredes, the party has the highest respect for other parties participating in the May 2010.

PAPIN AND PAREDES ARE WELCOME ADDITION

They say that politics is addition.

But to us in Bangon Pilipinas Party, addition in politics is more than clichés.

Today, we take pride in the addition of two credible and untainted public servants in the Dream Team Senate Slate of the Party: Imelda Papin, a two-time former Vice Governor of Camarines Sur and Zosimo Paredes, former Executive Director of the Presidential Commission on the Visiting Forces Agreement.

Ms. Papin and Atty. Paredes, on their own initiative, joined Bangon Pilipinas in the belief that only this Party is sincere and able to bring genuine reforms in the Philippines’ failing systems. While we acknowledge that ours is a relatively young democracy, we also lament that it has remained weak and ineffective because traditional politics has done nothing but to maintain the status quo. We are honored that Ms. Papin and Atty. Paredes have rightly seen that Bangon Pilipinas is all about new politics.

Verse for Today

1 Peter 3:15
“But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,”
