Nehemiah had the chance to see the king of Persia day by day because his job was to test and serve his drink. It was a prestigious but delicate task. Nonetheless, it could also give Nehemiah the chance to earn the king’s favor.

When Persia had conquered Judah, it happened that Nehemiah was among the Jews who were exiled. He was favored to serve as the king’s cupbearer in the palace. A time came when the king allowed the Jews to return to their homeland. But Nehemiah kept his job in the king’s palace.

A brother of his came to visit him one day, together with other fellows. He asked them how their brethren, the Jewish remnants, were doing. He asked what Jerusalem looked like by then.

“Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Jeremiah, what do you see? And I said, I see a branch of an almond tree. Then said the LORD unto me, You have seen well: for I am ready to perform My word” Jeremiah 1:11-12

Resurrection always brings a message of hope. There is nothing more hope-boosting than knowing that the dead, yes the DEAD, may rise again!

The resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ is the single redemptive event that perfected mankind’s salvation and deliverance from sin, at the same time proving that faith in Him that holds the indisputable power over death is not useless.

Why Hoping In God Makes Sense by Bishop Bro. Eddie C. Villanueva

“…even if he killed me, I'd keep on hoping” (Job 13:15, The Message).

In our day and age when threats are so easily pronounced and promises are just as easily broken, there are those who will probably turn their noses up at the words of Job. They may even say, “Yeah right, big words!”

But the words spoken by Job were not just empty words. They actually echoed the choicest oath of a man who was dealt by life with the hardest blows, yet remained faithful to his God no matter what.

In the Old Testament, God introduced to Satan His servant Job as a righteous man. True to his evil form, however, Satan chided God and claimed Job was only good because God was good to him. Knowing Job like no other, God allowed Satan to put this servant to test ~ even do anything to him except take his life.

Is it not disturbing when what you believe in does not match the way you live? But it is not disturbing at all if you are not even aware of it. Like when you say you believe in God and yet it is as clear as the sunshine that you are living in the dark. Like also when you say life is beautiful and yet misfortunes keep pouring on your lap. Indeed, there is a wide gap between belief and reality.

But that is not something new. People regardless of color, race, nationality, religious beliefs, social standing, and economic status suffer the same fate. Everyone has his own share of confusion and hardship in this perplexing world. Many, if not all, try to change the way they live, for the better.
